Starting out in WAP/WML & 3G

I'm an experienced web-developer & know ASP, PHP, JSP quite well. Now I'm thinking of starting in WAP with WML. I know XML & did a tiny bit of WML some months back but never got deep into it but now I've got a project landed on me in WAP & I need to start out. Can anyone recommend any good resources or tuts on WMLScript?
Also, I'm new to 3G stuff. As I understand, its somewhat like GPRS & you have got an xHTML browser & can view the pages as they look in a computer browser like IE or FireFox & I know that Opera is the leader in Mobile Browsers at the moment. I also need to do a 3G version of this website. So if I code xHTML as I would for a computer browser like IE etc., will it look alright on a 3G phone also? Can anyone suggest a free 3G phone emulator? I've got WAPtor for WML but don't know about any for 3G.
