Unhappy Youve been terminated !!

Hi fellaz, first post woo hoo.
Iv got a wap site running at the mo and use bango (boooo) for the billing side of things.
when the user browses to a vid they like, they click buy, are directed to the bango pay page, and then back to my contant on my server.

My problem is with the bango pay page, its puts the punters off.
So what i want to do , is ,when a user clicks on a vid, send an http post to "#a company#" that initiates a MT premium sms to that phone to charge for my vid.

Iv checked out my competition on wap and this seems to be the way that most other sites do things. ie. you buy, then 10 mins later you get a sms charging you 1.50

My prob is that any company that i find that offers MT, wants the user to send a text to initiate the charge. IE text BABES to 80333.

The only other way is if my wap site already knows the users isdn and can send this in the http post to the charging site.

IS THERE ANY WAY MY PHP SCRIPT CAN TELL WHAT THE USERS PHONE NUMBER IS THAT IS CONNECTED TO IT ??

JUGE thanks and kudos for any help boyz, my cap is well burnt out off this !!

Hiya,

Welcome to DevShed, can I make a couple of points to make your time here more rewarding?

1) Your thread title says nothing about what it's in relation to, you might want to change it to something that relates to what the thread is about.

2) There is a fantastic search feature on the site which will help you answer most of your questions.

Now that's out of the way........

Most SMS companies will expect the end user to initiate the billing through a MO message you then reply to with a charged MT message.

You can however find companies who will be able to let you initiate billing with HTTP though you will need to send MSISDN and Network values, you'll also have to make sure the netwrok value you pass is correct as number porting has made this even more difficult.

As for finding out the phone number, search the forums, it's been answered a dozen times here at least before. It can only be done with certain networks like TeleNor in Norway, a couple of Swiss ones and a few others.

The rest of the time to do this you would need to partner with someone who has direct connections into the likes of Orange, O2, Vodafone etc. It can be done but not on your own.

As for Bango, I tried them out, integrated my WAP site with their billing and went for the kill when I tried it as a customer would.

I had to make a phone call to a premium rate line, that took minutes and cost £3 after which I was given a code to enter.

The code I was given did not work and on the second try Bango told me it had expired, so from a customers view I got nothing and from a publishers view I got nothing.

It was that which made me understand why Bango turn over a fortune, publishers pay to use the service (I paid £109 a month) and end users pay Bango for goods from the provider. This means two parties are paying Bango and from what I experienced both lost out.
