backgroundless pictures?

What program/how can I get backgroundless pictures from pictures on a white background? I am making a game and need to make them. Help will be appreciated.

pretty much any graphics program will do this for you.
The thing is, you will more than likely have to cut the image out
yourself. Nothing worth doing comes cheap

To help you with this, download wingimp for windows, or gimp for linux. Whichever for the O.S you'r using.
When you get it installed, if the background is all white you can try using the magic wand to select all areas of like color. This will effectively cut down your time.
Afterwards, you might need to smooth the image out, so go around the edges either with a soft (blurry) brush of about size 5 or less. Or..try smudging the edges a little.
