can't open photoshop file

I just mad e ahomepage design in photoshop 5.5 and had problem with editing a new type layer. Photoshop said "Can't edit bcoz of programme error". I rebott the system assuming that it will rectify the problem. When i rebooted and tried to open the file agian it said too many layers can open the document. I am using ver 5.5. I tried opeing the file in PSP and Firwrx. Firwrx opened it but didn't lrt me save it in PSD fromat. The big truble is that My design was just complete. And I put my whole day in making the design.

Now My situation is worst.

Please help me.........

Try and reinstall Photoshop. This is often the only way to solve problems under Windows, unfortunately.
