Centered Frames
Hi,
I have a frameset with a fixed-size top frame a nested left frame. I would like this to be centered horizontally and vertically in the middle of a page, I have accomplish this using tables but not with frames, any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks |

Well frames should always be avoided, but perhaps you have a certain reason for going this way (can't think of what that would be) Can you provide a little more description to what your looking for. I think that's why this post isn't getting answered. Horizontally and vertically? Do you mean that it's kind of like a 'T' where the frame edges meet? |

Basically I am using frames because I was not sure I could achieve what I wanted to do using tables.
One of the main reasons I am using frames is because it allows you to display banner and navigation areas that never leave the viewers sight while linking through the rest of the pages. I have a navigation frame on the left of the page, a banner frame at the top of the page and a content frame in the middle of the page. So in the navigation frame I have the links such as products, contact etc and these links will be targeted to the content frame. I am not sure whether this can be achieved using tables. Once this is complete I then want to have these frames in the middle of the page so to give white space all around the page. If you visit this link you will understand. http://www.cleardesignuk.com/ |

Frames are bad for search engines, bookmarks, and ease of use.
You could use an iframe for what you want to do, but I do not recommend that for the above reasons. SSI or PHP includes are much better.

Ok thanks for the advice. Can you direct me to any sites which give any tutorials on what i want to achieve? A navigation bar to the left and a content box to the right so when you click on a link it appears in the content box.
How was it achieved on this website (javascript?) http://www.cleardesignuk.com/ Thanks |

No JavaScript, they just used the same template on every page and since everything but the new HTML file is cached the pages load fast.

Yes but how did they make it so when you click say Services for example it brings up the content for that on the right hand side without reloading the page, and for the other links.
Is there a way to do this in Dreamweaver? I want to try and achieve what they have done if possible Thanks |

It is reloading the pages.
Dreamweaver creates junk code. |
