    Cross-browser development

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone out there had any good open-source cross-browser testing stuff, and possibly a place where cross-browser specifications are listed pretty straight-forwardly. I'm getting into cross-browser scripting and trying to get a good start.

    Let me know whatcha think.

    Thanks

    Welcome to DevShed Forums, fireminded.

Here are some of the reference sites I use most often:
    https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs
    http://reference.sitepoint.com/css
    http://caniuse.com/

If you'd like resources for more specific topics, let us know.

P.S. Are you aware that your host is causing your page to fail to load in Firefox 23 and IE10? These are the error messages that Firefox shows:
Error: The character encoding of the HTML document was not declared. The document will render with garbled text in some browser configurations if the document contains characters from outside the US-ASCII range. The character encoding of the page must be declared in the document or in the transfer protocol.
    Error: junk after document element
    Line: 3, Column: 1
    Source code:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://stats.hosting24.com/count.php"></script>

    Awesome, thanks:)

Thanks for the info. And yea, it's on free hosting, they put javascript tags in with every page request. Had some issues with AJAX with them primarily but figured that out. Sounds like maybe the script tags are going in before the doctype declaration or something and being read out-of-context. Anyways, thanks a ton for your help

Many servers are configured to send the character set in the HTTP headers, but your host doesn't. It's usually best to specify it in the document anyway. So to fix the first error, add this as the first element in between the <head></head> tags.
    Code:
    <meta charset="UTF-8">
The second error is because of the <script> element added after the </html> end tag. The solution to that is to use a host that doesn't sloppily append a <script> element to all files it serves as "text/html".

Why did you decide to load all of your content via AJAX anyway?

    Talking Whew!

Ok, charset declared, turned off the analytics thing, let me know if you notice anything else. That appended <script> was bugging the heck out of me, kept popping up in ajax queries and stuff like that getting in the way of data. Anyways I just like the look and feel of AJAX, s'why I used it for my site. Thanks for the help guys.
