CVS usage help!!

Hi there,

How do I go about jumping to release 2.0 of a specific project without affecting the development of releases 1.0 and up?

The new project structure is widely different: Some files have been renamed, some deleted and new ones added.

I understand the concept of tags and branches but I'm not sure how to handle this issue.

I would appreciate if anyone could clear this up to me in a sequence of steps to follow!
