Hey there, i'm an experienced(ish) webdesigner, but this is the first time ive tried to register 2 domains with one host.
Ive been trying to get this to work for a week now, emailed the host who wont reply! Ive registered a domain on 123-reg.net and want to get it to point to a folder. Instructions on how to do this are pretty unclear, but from what I got, I have to first change the nameservers to: ns1.******.com/ns2.******.com Wait 48 hours, then go onto the 'addon domains' on cpanel and type in New Domain: drivingthru.co.uk (which is what domain ive just registered) Username/Directory/Subdomain Name: drivingthru (which i guess is the name of the folder I want that domain pointing to) Password: I gathered I ignore that field. So I do all this and get the following error message: Nameserver ips for drivingthru.co.uk are: **.**.***.***, **.**.***.*** Sorry, that domain (drivingthru.co.uk) is already pointed at an ip address that does not appear to use dns servers on this server or master servers! Please transfer the domain to this server's nameservers or have your admin add one of its nameservers ips to /etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver! ...what have I done wrong here?? Any help would be great, Tom |

If I've followed what you're saying, I think you need to change the nameserver settings with the register. If you do a whois search on that domain the nameservers should be the ones the host specifies - are they?

I did a whois search and its come up with 'ns1.maxiehost.com & ns2.maxiehost.com'. I did another whois search for my primary domain (tommyhaych.co.uk) and the same nameservers came up. :EDIT: I matched the ip on the addon domains error to the ip on the whois search and they seem to match! |

You ***'ed out the names in the first post... is that the correct nameservers or no?
If both domains are on the same server, the nameservers should theorectically be the same, are they? I've never had any trouble with this sort of thing, but then again, my host answers their phone (usually very politely). I tried doing a whois from a domain register here in the states and it wouldn't let me look up .co.uk unless they had registered it and I don't have access to a UNIX-type box on the net where I'm at to check that way or I would run the whois searches myself. |

I get the same thing for the nameservers ('ns1.maxiehost.com & ns2.maxiehost.com') but is that correct? I don't know where you host or what their nameservers are.

apparentley it is, the ip's are the same also.
I've been reading up on this problem and someone mentioned something about clearing DNS records? I've emailed the host about that but the f*cker hasnt replied yet. |
