Question Domain name question

I've been away from HTML and the like for awhile....
I used to have a site in which I had a domain name like this.domain.com where there wasn't a URL I see it all the time on the web like groups.yahoo.com, etc.....

How do I do this in my site? I don't remember.

Mike

what you are talking about is called sub-domains by most domain name providers. These can normally be setup from your domain name control panel. Effectively, you are creating a new DNS entry for a new site that just happens to be on the same domain as the www site.

Is your domain registered with the same company who host your site?

Sub-Domain

Yes, Ipowerweb hosts both my domain name and my site.

Sub Domains

From the looks of it you need to fill in a request form on Ipowerweb's website:

https://secure.ipowerweb.com/cgi-bi...serv=sub_domain

Thats will let you request one although it looks like they charge extra

Sub domain setup

You can actually setup you own sub domain through your Ipowerweb control panel (vdeck).

Located in: Host Manager
> Subdomain Manager

Hope this helps
