DOMAIN NAMES, some guy wont give me passwd

This person claims that I can "apply to the registrar" to authorize him to switch my domain name to point to the servers where I want to host my site. Have you ever heard of anything like that? What should I tell this person and how can I change my domain name to this new server? It means I wont be able to renew the name in July when it expires!!

Is there another site I can control domain names although they were not registered there? I fully paid for the name by the way. Please advise me.

you can change domain name server thru control panel of your domain (provided by your registrar) - when you change nameservers you will still have control of your domain name thru the same control pannel, nothing will change except the hosting machine where domain is located (controled thru those nameservers)

What I did not say is that this guy from (I believe) Austria is currently "hosting" the web site. Although his term with us ended at the end of Mar he claims he is not the one with the password to change the Name Servers to point to where I want to host my web site. Is there any way around for me to switch; like he claims I have to apply to the registrar!!

Ok,

What is your domain name, do a whois search on it and find the registrar. Contact them and explain you dont have a username and password and ask them to re issue you with one. Once you have the above shout me or PM and I will guide you thru the rest.

Alternatively, if you are named as the administrative contact in the whois record, then you can simply apply to another domain host to move your domain to them thus giving you access.
