domain taken - what to choose?

Using my name as the example...

Assuming these are taken:

www.matthew.com taken
www.doucette.com taken
www.matthewdoucette.com taken

What domain should I choose instead?

other TLDs:
www.matthewdoucette.net ?
www.matthewdoucette.org ?
www.matthewdoucette.biz ?
www.matthewdoucette.info ?
www.matthewdoucette.name ?

other dot-coms:
www.mdoucette.com ?
www.matthewd.com ?
www.matthew-doucette.com ?

Just wondering what the general consensus is.

Here are my thoughts:
- www.matthew-doucette.com is bad for verbal reasons. When you tell someone, "matthew doucette dot-com", the hyphen is not included. It means you have to verbally explain, "matthew hyphen doucette dot-com".
- www.matthewdoucette.net requires someone to remember the "dot-net" as opposed to the easily assumed "dot-com".
- www.mdoucette.com works verbally, it is simple, and it does not require someone to remember the "dot-com". So far, it is my choice (even though this is still just an example, remember).

Anyways, just thought I would ask as I required a domain name and the dot-com is taken.

www.matthew-doucette.com? Visually, it looks better than even www.matthewdoucette.com. However, if someone actually visits the site, and then wants to return, they'll probably be more apt to recall the incorrect domain without the hyphen.

I like the last one also if your going to be telling people about your site.

So that's two for www.matthew-doucette.com (or did you both mean www.mdoucette.com?), and none for all the others.

Another reason I was leaning towards www.mdoucette.com was that www.matthew-doucette.com can be easily confused with www.matthewdoucette.com (someone else's site).

...

What about concentrating on just the last name of the individual? Suppose these were available (they actually are, but remember this is just an example):

www.doucette.biz
www.doucette.info

Would one of those be better? They allow for domains like:

http://matthew.doucette.biz/
http://matthew.doucette.info/

I have decided on the www.mdoucette.com domain (remember that my name was used only as an example, so this domain is not the actual domain I registered.)

As an afterthought, would this have been a good choice (since it is for a Canadian)?
