Endless tiling header

The quality is way worse than it should be for size.
Anyway, the red things in the background are supposed to be curtains, and they're what I want to tile to the left and right endlessly no matter what size your screen is. I created the graphic in Photoshop and Illustrator CS, and I'm working in GoLive 7.0.
I also am having trouble translating between these two programs. I've already sliced my image and exported as html from illustrator, but when I open it in GoLive, it's exceedingly difficult to work with. If I wanted text links as side navigation on the grey bar on the left, could I do that in GoLive without a floating box?
Oh, and it would be good to have the grey bar extend to the bottom of the screen no matter what size the screen is too.

You need to use the repeat-x or repeat-y properties on the BG image. Check this page out for more details...http://www.tizag.com/cssT/background.php

Any ideas on how to do this in GoLive with slices, as opposed to html?
