Question Forums link back to main page

When I link to the forums with the link at the top of the mainpage, then click any link on the forums, it takes me back to the main page, even though the proper url is showing up at the top. I think it might have something to do with the .php in the url, but I am not sure. How can I fix this problem. I am a complete newbie at this. Any help is very much appreciated.
