graphics not showing
Hi,
I am having an image problem right now and I cannot understand why. On some of my recent sites, I have a problem with images showing up... On my local PC, the images show fine (mozilla and IE). But on other machines the images are not showing up. I have flushed caches on all machines but there is no problem. I am using the standard <img src=""> code and all the machines I tested on are running IE6... I am using the full path, and have tried relative paths too but none work! Any one help me on this? Thanks, comp |

Could you provide us a link to the guilty pages / images?
When you say not showing, does that mean broken image or just not showing anything at all? |

Are you using any kind of rewrites at all? You could also try specifying the FQDN (include the http://domain...). And of course, the obvious, make sure the image is there and try to view it with the location you've specified in your src= attribute.

no rewrites. the images show if i go directly. they show for me now but not at work/mates houses. i have tried http://www.mydomain.com/image.gif, image.gif, /image.gif and www.mydomain.com/image.gif to no avail

are they hosted remotely or on the computer you are using to view them with? what permissions have you set for the images?

mttatkns. I am not that stupid. They are on the net. I can get at them via. www.mydomain.com/image.gif or whatever. The permissions are set so all can read them.

Well, the only thing I can think of is to make sure your friend doesn't have any ad blocking software that might be mistaking your image for an ad. I had @guard installed for awhile and it would block any image that linked to a url with "aid=" in the query string. Worked great for a(dvertisement)ids, but I got a bit annoyed when it started blocking a(rticle)ids, too.

I had the same problem. In my case it was a download manager called DAP (Download Accelerator Plus). You must edit the registry and delete all keys in
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\PROTOCOLS\Name-Space Handler\ except "mk" key and then uninstall DAP. Same thing if you have GetRight or same other app like that. I found this info on webmasterworld.com. |
