how to: Looking for design tips
I am trying to create an active desktop type of page that would remain open on our users computers through the company intranet. The idea behind this is to get news headlines or alerts etc on the desktops asap. What I am trying to figure out is the best way to accomplish the updating aspect of this. From what I have read, I can create a CDF file that schedules refresh times. What I would like to do as well is create some interface to allow specific users the ability to input new headlines or alerts but not have to have anyone manually recreate the HTML that goes with it. I am not sure what process I would use to make this happen and maybe what I am describing already exsists under a different name.

You may want to look in to some blog programs. There are many opensource options available you can try them out at http://www.opensourcecms.com/. You will have to make some modifications for your application but for what you want to do these programs would work very well as a starting points I think. I use my Blog for news and other business happenings. I personally like b2Evolution. The admin is easy to use and there are many customization options.
Hope that helps, Cuda |
