Image that scolls?

So whats up?

Well thing is that im trying to make a game in php/javascripts and so on. And i whant a sort of "game surface". The game is 2d as u might have guest =) and going to be a sort of "zelda 1" game like on the old nintendo 8-bit. But what i wana do is to to have a background that i can i hava a sort of viewport on that i can scroll up, down or right to the left. I also need a player image thats alwys in the center of teh viewport that only need to change what directions its looking at. Hope that cleared it out. =)

I was thinking dhtml layers, css and some php but some ppl said flash but aie.. thats to much work or??

Other wise the game is going to soo great, ill post a link when i have a beta.

Check out the panning demo. There are some other nifty dhtml snippets on there too, like dragging boxes around and stuff. Could be useful for a game.
