Looking for a Graphics app for Web graphics That can do this....

I have done graphics design for a lot of years. I have been using animation packages like 3ds Max, Soft D'image, etc. I have found that my ability to create images using a 3d rendered graphics have come in very handy. I am also very fluent on Photoshop, illustrator.

However, I am looking for a software package that can do this....

Ever seen a web page where the main graphic on the main page is split into say 12 components? So it looks like one whole one?

My Question is this.

What graphics program can you accurately split ONE graphic in to many pieces for use on a web page? Yes I know it can be done very manually in photoshop. But is there a program out there that you can do this on, more efficiently?

thanx in advance

Without trying to be insolent, are Photoshop 6's slices too inefficient?

I think of "very manually" as dragging out guides, selecting the area you want, flattening the image, copying the area you want, creating a new document, pasting the area you want, saving for web. Personally, I prefer to do it this way.

With Photoshop 6, you can draw slices, and hit save for web. P6 will create the HTML for you (albeit non-valid HTML).

Don't know if this is automatic enough or not, but Fireworks also does the same thing.

thanx for that reply bud!

That information is very handy. I have photoshop 5 but I don't know if it can do what you say. I'll look into it.

I've never tried "fireworks" but I think now I will .

Thanx alot

Sure thing.

Photoshop 5: no slices, no save for web.

Photoshop 5.5: no slices, save for web.

Photoshop 6: slices, save for web.

Photoshop 5.5 comes with ImageReady 2.0 and that program can save as slices too.

Send a message via AIM to beley
In photoshop you can choose "Create from guides" from the slices menu (PS 6) and it will automatically create them. Then you can select the slices you want to export.

also you may want to look

at ImageReady, it usually comes with PS5.5/6, does a great job of slices and slice management amongst a horde of other things

i think NetObject Fusion can do that.

you choose a style and position the pages as parent or child and the programs creatres the graphics automatically.

to change the labes of the bottons, you just change the names of the pages and resave the compunets to the webserver. (extremely simplified description but you get the idea...i hope)

good luck
