My site doesn't look right!

I have made this layout at

http://iris.afraid.org/

but it just doesn't look right! I think it may be the fonts.. does anyone have suggestions on improving it?

i'm not sure what you're going for. i always sketch things on paper, without thinking how i'm going to do it (i'll worry about that later) and then do the code to look like what i drew.

i find i have more freedom this way, because i am not limiting myself to what i've done in the past.

my only suggestion with what yuo currently have is to always make the content section at least long enough to reach the end of the side panels.

seems right to me. I would use verdana or trebruchet instead, but it depend on you.

Love it though, looks nice.

it looks ok to me. well, probly what you are missing are graphics. that's why it looks plain. depends on what your organization does, go with that theme. If yr org has its own colours, then follow it. same goes for fonts. normally people would use arial, but that depends on the web designer.

eg, if your organization in involved or related with water, then use blue tones and the graphics/icons more to water related types.

I don't know what fonts you used in your style sheet, but in the html, you don't call it in each instance. therefor the text looks different all over the page.

luck,
robert
