Need help! Taking design 101 "rookie"

Hello everyone! I'm taking web site design and developement course on-line. Just started Sept 13. I was so happy to have found this forum. I'm just finishing design 101, last lesson right now. I'm having a terrible time understanding the last project for this class. Any help would be so appreciated in what this means:

Balance Project 1

Instructions:This project asks you to concentrate on placement, contrast and kinesthetic projection to create a balanced and interesting design. Choose one of the following words to illustrate. Do several thumbnails to develop your idea. Base your thumbnails and your project using one of the following typestyles. If necessary research these typefaces by using available resources. Do not use pictures or distort your letterforms into pictures to tell your story. Let the letterforms communicate their message visually through size, color, value, shape, structure, texture, placement and kinesthetic projection. Tell visually what the words says intellectually. Consider the tensions and balancing forces.

Choose one from the following Typestyles:

Are these the only instructions/information you were given?

I think my intructor is from Mars actually. I sent him an e-mail about this project a week ago and still no responce?? I thought I'd take a chance and see if others here could make sense of this assignment in the mean time.

I have till Dec. 10 to complete four classes. Hopefully he gets a hold of me before then with this last project in this class!!!! I just moved along to a second class in the mean time.

That is all there is for instructions for this assignment. If and when I ever hear from him and get it figured out I'll post what it meant.

For what it's worth, here's my translation:

Pick one of the words from the first list as a theme topic. Use thumbnail images to illustrate the idea.
Pick one of the fonts listed & use different sizes, colors, italics, etc., to add to the impression you want the site to give.

Hey I found you Kate!
I think you are on the right track with the advice you have been getting! You need to design a image with the text given in a certain font. A font that portrays the PERFECT description for the word. You do the thumbnails for the "idea". Use your ELEMENTS to do this it is way easier, and you can screw around with the size, color and rotation of the text in there to create your masterpiece! I should post the other exercises and see what everyone thinks! Mars is way too close for our instructor! Thanks for showing me this site, it rocks!
