Need help with website logo...
Hello all,
I'm new here as well as a new web designer (as you'll soon be able to tell if you view my site). Anyway, the biggest problem I'm facing is how the logo looks on the site. It is an animated gif (it doens't have to be...it's just the only one I have), and looks like crap on the site. I'm hoping someone could take a look at the site and give me any pointers on how to 'clean up' the logo. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The site is located at: http://www.rsipumps.com/ Thanks, Chris. |

I know that you are using the animated gif to show a pump, but I really think that they don't look as professional, and I think that you would be better off with a 'still' logo, maybe simplified a little.
![]() The rest of the site is clean and simple, and I think that your logo should reflect this - and I think it will make it look 10x better! (Btw - good job with the site - doesn't look at all bad ) |

Thanks for the quick reply (the compliment too)!. I agree with about the animated gif and have since removed it. However, how would I go about cleaning that logo up? I think it looks like crap against the blue background (I'm refering to the ragged edges-pixelated is what it's called I believe).
Thanks, Chris. |

Having read your other post, I see that the logo is also used on the companies vans. So you can't over simplifiy it, I guess.
What program did you make the logo in? |

Jaggies in the logo
The logo looks great, you just need to clean up the jaggies around the items.
I guess red hot sheeps question about what program did you use comes into play here. Depending on how you created the logo depends on how you can sharpen the edges. Various programs have their methods and saving quality are where you will get into making sure how clean the lines are in the logo. I personally have found JPG's to be better for static logo's than gif's, but there is a personal opinion for what it's worth. The site looks clean, good job. |

Hey guys,
Thanks again for the reply. I didn't design the logo...nor do I know who did. It's just an animated gif (I opened it and saved it in Photoshop to get the non-animated version). After spending the better part of yesterday designing a post-it note to put on the site, I have a feeling that cleaning up the logo will be a bigger task than I originally thought. So I don't expect much. Anyway, thanks again. Chris. |

I suppose the best method would be to start over again, in Photoshop, and make it look pretty much the same style, just without the pixelated edges, and gradients. You could also make it look a bit simpler
Plus, you can't really read the text under the logo. |
