    Netbook for development?

    Hello,

I'm planning on going away for a number of months later this year travelling and what to still be able to code stuff (in part to earn a bit of money) but I can't decide between buying a 10 inch netbook or a 13 inch laptop.

Has anyone tried coding on a netbook? How was it? Also has anyone used Photoshop online or something similar and would it be good for doing some basic website designs?

The languages I'll probably coding in are HTML, CSS, PHP & some SQL running the apache server & MySQL database.

Look forward to hearing what people think.

I would go for the laptop. Do you plan on running the server locally?

Yes the server will be running locally, I was thinking that it'd have to be a laptop was just hoping the netbooks would do due to the price, size & weight. If it has to be a laptop though, it has to be.

You can find some decently priced laptops if you look.

I would check out the outlets for the major retailers. Dell has an outlet that I have purchased several laptops from. Some of them are refurbs but lots of them are just laptops that people returned and are in perfect condition.

I'm assuming that the other manufacturers also have something similar.
