    Question

Is there ANY way to convert Acrobat files into Flash 5? Turn them into .bmps or .gifs and edit them maybe? Help!

    ... just a guess:

Do you have access to Illustrator 9?

Illustrator 9 can export to .swf files. If it can import a .pdf file, you should be able to do something with it going out the other way.

Don't have Illustrator 9...Do you think it might work with Photoshop 5 or Paintshop Pro?

    It's possible.

I was just pointing out one conversion path that could be available. Maybe someone more familiar with Flash could point out what sorts of files Flash can import.

It would also depend on what sort of tools you have for working with PDFs. If you don't have Acrobat (the full version, that is, not the reader), then Photoshop should be able to open a PDF file. I just checked it out with 5.5. What Pshop will do for you is render your PDF one page at a time. If you have more than one page, you need to open that document one time for each page, using Pshop's "parser" to select the page you want to load. If you've opened EPS files in Pshop, you'll find the results are quite similar.

Once you've got each page in Pshop, you can save them in a format Flash can use.

Flash 5 can import the following: JPG, GIF, PICT, BMP, PNG. If you can export the PDF (using the full version of Adobe Acrobat) to a JPG, that would be another possible conversion path.

    still curious...

    Pieux,

Does Acrobat have any export/save options that allows you to keep the file in a vector-based format?

    finelineBob,

You can export to EPSF, but Flash can't import EPSFs and recognize the "vectors", because Macromedia and Adobe handle vectors differently. Encapsulated PostScript Files are an Adobe technology.

    Talking Use CorelDraw or Freehand

    Hi there,

You can use Freehand9 or CorelDraw9 to import .PDF and export to .SWF using vectors.
Note that CorelDraw9 needs the SWFexport filter, available for free at www.corel.com

Another option is to print the .PDF to a .EPS file, then import as usual in Flash.

Although I donīt use it, I suppose AdobeLiveMotion can import .PDF and export to .SWF

    Good luck & happy flashing...

    gotta love them demos...

I believe the Live Motion demo is a 30-day fully-functional one. That'd be a good way of testing out the PDF-to-Live Motion-to-.swf option.

5.6MB is small? You must have a broadband connection

(that does look like a potentially awesome program...)
