Question photoshop question

i am having a problem with my photoshop 7 and i am hoping someone might have some insight to something i am missing. i have used this version of 7 for almost a year with no real problems. over the past week it has gotten so slow it is unreal. to crop a photo it used to be about 10 seconds now it takes over 5 min. same size photo i scan everything at 20 meg. i have uninstalled and reinstalled photo shop several times trying to fix this. i still have 6.0 loaded on this computer and it runs fine. thought it was the problem somehow uninstalled it no change. i have done several defrags. and i have over 60% harddrive memory availible i don't know what to do any ideas? thanks mike c

10 seconds to crop a photo? That's a bit high to begin with. What are your computer specs? Processor / RAM ?

why would you scan something to that file size? that alone can slowdown your photoshop functions big time.

try increasing your RAM not your HD free space.

Not sure about ur prob, sorry. Maybe for the large size of ur photo (20mg)
U can use marquee tool and cut/copy past instead of using crop,
Marge layers if u has multiple layers.
