    Unhappy popup menus and centered pages


    i have a fixed with webpage that gets centered as the browser window is resized, is there any way to make (cross-browser compatible) layers that popup in the correct location? i've already done every combo of div and span tags with relative/absolute positioning. i'm sure other people have had trouble with it, thanks...rob

    This actually belongs in the HTML section, but someone will move it later.


    The problem with "fixed positions" on layers is that they are relative to the person's resolution. So if you made your site in 600x800 but someone sees your site in 1024x768, your layers are now out of place.

    One way to correct this is to place your document into a pop up window (with width specified by you) so your layers will remain fixed in their correct positions

    Or you can "design" your site so that where the layers pop up, that section of your design will always remain at the same position in any resolution.
