Problem changing a background!

Alright, heres the problem. I need the current page
found here: http://www.westgeauga.k12.oh.us/Lindsey/index.shtml

To look like the design in the picture below. I included a PSD if it's necessary. Basically the school just wanted the bg of the two tables there lightened up. However I can't do this and get the drop downs to work. Could anyone possibly do it for me? Thanks a lot!

can you not just crop the picture and replace with existing one?

I'm sorry.
I initially looked at the website in Firefox. I did not see the drop down menu of which you spoke. I just tried vieing it in IE and I now see what you mean.

Changing the background image really shouldn't make a difference with how the menu functions. The only thing I can think of that would affect the menu the way you describe is that you are renaming the files as something different then the current background image is named. So I would suggest changing the background image but then also naming it the same as the current image is called. You might be better off changing the javascript to not depend on specific image names.

Is it possible you can do this for me or give me the names of the images that need to be changed?

not sure how I can help, but I'll take a closer look at the website.
I'll check out javascripts and image names. see how it all works.

I'll get back to you, but no promises.
It's hard to go to another designers work and try to debug it so t speak..

I'll PM you when I'm done. ]

p.s
Sorry for the late reply..

Have you heard or the suckerfish menus?

Much better than a JS driven menu by 100%.

go to www.alistapart.com and do a search for suckerfish.

The menu is great! It's small, and it works very well!
