Publishing problem with Dreamweaver

I'm having problems uploading my site and wonder if anyone can help

My site is built with Dreamweaver MX and I'm using the in-built Dreamweaver publishing facility. However, after keying in all the necessary info I keep getting the same message -'An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host'.

I'm getting this message all the time despite being very careful when I've inputted FTP Host/Host Directory/Login/Password info etc.

Any help appreciated

try a diffirent host. Or make sure the the host is spelt in correctly and usually the host is ftp.thehostdomain.com so make sure you havent just put in thehostdomain.com.
Also if this dosent work try making the connection via some ftp software such as AceFTP or WsFTP or CuteFTP. You can also ftp via command if your using windowns ..
Do this in if your using windows..
Run->cmd->ftp ftp.thehostdomain.com (press Enter)->It shall ask you for user name if host was correct, type in username -> Then type password -> if everything correct then it should say 230 User **** logged in. -> then to check what the current dir is type pwd , for more commands type in help.. and there you have it. to quit type disconnect ( if connected ) then type bye and then exit to exit completly.
Hope this helps.

No joy. I've since tried uploading the site using FTP (I used ftpsurfer) and I have managed to get it on-line! However, I have the old problem of a published website with no images showing. I'm told this can be a fairly common problem.

It looks like I have my 'images' folder in the wrong place but I can't work out where to place them. They seem to be there on the server so I'm not sure why they won't display.

When I built the site using Dreamweaver I placed all my images into a sub folder named 'images' which I believe is the correct thing to do. When I uploaded the site I presumed this would be OK, but obviously not!

hmm usually there should be a main folder named public_html or www for short. Upload your main .html file in there and copy the whole images folder in there to. And when you run the .html file it should work although if it dosent right click on one of the images and click on properties. Look at the image url. Make sure it matches with the image url it should be. If its not edit your .html file and fix it. And then upload the file again (overwrite)!
