Remote website editing
Apologies if this is in the wrong forum....
I`ve been scratching my head with this one. I have several members on my site/forum who would like to contribute to a small section on the homepage. They do not have much html experiences, neither do they wish to. I do all the grunt if you will!! The small section on the homepage gets updated daily, but I would like the other guys to be able to edit/update this as I barely have time to do it myself. How can I set up a script or something, like a simple text editor for them that would enable them to update this small area of the webpage. This would really save me time. I know none of what I said makes any sense I`ve added a link showing the area where I would like to enable this? Maybe there is something freely available on the net, but I`m not sure what to look for!! I`ve been scratching my head with this one. This would probably be a php/MySQL job. If you can set up a password-protected page that only your friends can use, then you could pull the text from the database and put it into a textarea in which it would be editable and it would then update the existing text.
That's the basic idea as far as I can see. Are you able to use php/MySQL? |

Yes, php/mysql is not a problem. I think I see where you are going with this. Still going to be a `head scratcher` for sure!!
I was hoping it would be made easy, and a ready available script would be on the net!! I have no idea what I would need to search for though! |

You probably want to search for "blog scripts" or CMS.
You can demo many of these at opensourcecms, if is up. Hope that helps a bit.
