Seamless Shopping Cart Integration

I've seen a few shopping card "in the box" packages which are not flexible in their display and layout of material.

I'm comissioned to make an e-commerce site for a clothing business. They want the shopping cart to be COMPLETELY integrated with their site.

Are there pre-made scripts that I can use to do the "back-end" stuff for everything, and take care of displaying the data myself?

Do I have to program my own shopping cart solution? (I'm a little nervous about this one)

THanks,

-Costas-

I am sure there is. How extensive & what language?

I have one (ASP) that I can send you to see what you think of it & use the admin part. And then maybe cut & paste code into your site as needed.

Thanks for your reply,

My hosting provider uses Tomcat and I'm pretty sure that ASP only works with MIcrosoft IIS?

I don't like the idea of having to write the whole shopping cart myself. That would be enough of a project on it's OWN, and I would need to adequately consider requirements and test the thing before I used it (wouldn't want to discover a major bug after 20 days of making it "live").

Unfortunately, I'm really pressed on time with this client. I (of course) couldn't make it seem like i didn't know how to do it.....

Is my ONLY option basically to code everything myself?

There are no readily available shopping carts or script packages available for purchase that let you specify the look and feel of the page?

Well for Tomcat, you could check out www.oscommerce.com - that might be pretty good for you.

But most hosted carts offer co-branding. If you are hosting it yourself, you do have a litle more control over it.
