Software for site structure design

Guys and girls,

I have a rather large and complex site to design with lots of information content.

I am planning the structure of the website at the moment. Following some research we now have to plan this as a website. I wondered if there was some software tool available (for free preferably) that can help design the structure of a website.

The current plan is to use post-it notes and bits of string.

Many thanks for your help.

Try a google search for UML software. I'm busy at work right now or else I'd have a peek for you and see if I couldn't find anything but that's the best I can give at the moment.

This one looks nice

I’m not aware of anything specifically for website structures, but in general a number of tools can be used. General diagramming tools are applicable here. Some are available for free. I’ve even used GraphViz to help sort out complicated relationships in data, and help me create a site structure, but whatever works for you.

But I actually found pen paper work to have the best cost/benefit ratio upfront. Working on paper was very efficient upfront, when I had no set design to work with and was coming up with potential ideas. The diagramming tools became more useful later on, when I had established some kind of ideal structure, and wanted to sort out the details.

There is another tool that I recall I found useful, I think the name is Denim. I’ll try and find a link to it. But in general, there wasn’t anything specific for site structure.

I assume this is it? Looks really interesting. Might have to investigate that further. Thanks for that one!
