Text formatting..

I'm continuing my weblog project (it's just a set of modifications to Rodin), and I'm looking for a method to easily format text. I'm looking at either a web-based wysiwyg or a nice text-syntax tool like Textile - http://textism.com/tools/textile/

Is there some standard syntax tool? I don't have much knowledge in the area. And also if there's a good wysiwyg, it'll have to work on Moz...

alternately, is there a modular/seperate version of textile that i don't know about?

Thanks
Tom
