This BG is Terrible - Please help me!

If there is anyone out there with a bit of color coordination would you please help me with this site. THe address is www.schlosshotels.co.at/wolfgang I can not change the main site's colors as per clients instructions, but I can change the main bg color and am having a really hard time doing so. It's terrible. Might someone give me a hexadecimal value I could try?

I thought #1D6730 fit in better than the other green. Screenshot over here.

In most of my projects I tend to focus on one main colour then have different shades of it, slightly darker/lighter etc, by using the colour picker tool in your graphics program and sliding the arrow accordingly. Try a black 1px border around the rectanglular chunk in the middle, I just did in fw and it looked better in my opinion; Then you could pretty much use any bg colour.

By the way, when you click on the animation of the lake your users will get a nasty anfy unregisted message.

if you really need the lake effect use flash, or even an animated gif... don't use java...
if you can help it that is... it sounds like you might have a tough client...

I just don't enjoy it when my mouse stops when Java loads...

Try ColorImpact. It's a great program for matching and complementing color values.

Remember that two colors of the same hue always match.

Try #C9BF90 med brown, echoes colors in the buildings.
#5B737F is close to what you already have.
#45131F dark red (be careful though, red is a double-edged sword, strong color associated with blood and power)
#4E152F another dark red, artistic
#1D113F dark blue, emphasize the water
#DDE4DF light green, emphasize the beautful surroundings
#366C44 med green, nice but may not give you the punch you need
#A4A3AE med gray, a safe color
#99C0A3 light-med green
#73907B med gray-green

Let us know how it turns out.

Also try #CCCCA3, nice brown that complements the body background on the other pages.

Yes, there is no need to use java for that. Java should only be used to add interactivity. For graphics you should use animated gifs or flash (although gifs would be better).

The mouse overs dont look right either because the mouseover image is bigger than the one it's replacing.

As for the background i'd go for a pale green such as #C3DCC7 or a deep green like #144E1D. Anything other than green would look wrong i think.

yeah, I'd see what it looks like using the same pale green as the swoosh at the top of the main area.
