This template did not come with META "description or keywords" tags, how to add them

Hey, This new template that I'm running did not come with the meta description or keyword codes.

This is my old code/s. Are they standard codes across the board.

As in just throw this in the page and she will be right, sorta thing.

<meta name="Description" content=" text in here" />
<meta name="Keywords" content="text in here" />

Peter.
