OK, I have the following problem: I have several buttons that have the glow effect applied to them. The problem is that these buttons are coming onto a tricky background.

Is there a way I could export these buttons into transparent GIFs wihtout the glow effect being screwed up?? Any pug-ins or anything else???

Basically you need to go in to a high magnification and ensure that any pixel that is not part of the glow is the same colour so that you can then use that colour as the transparent one.

Two words of advice though:
Complex backgrounds ->
Glow around text ->

When you export an image as a transparent gif, you must screw around with the settings for a while before achieving an image that's even close - remeber gifs only use a MAX of 256 colors, but can use dithering. With whatever graphics tool you're using, try setting the transparency to 50% dithering.
This is easiest to do with Paint Shop Pro or PhotoShop
