Question Url Blocking

I wondering how I can block users from viewing the contents of folder on a website. For example the /images folder of a website. Is it possible to block a certian URL that is viewed?

Sorry, Not sure what category to post in. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the response, I'll look into the HTACCESS solution.

If I use a blank index. file, is their any good scripts that could direct the viewer to the home url instead of the error message?

The index.html file can be whatever you want it to be.

BTW, .htaccess only applies if it's a Unix server. If it's a Windows server, you may need to have the admin disable directory browsing.
