waiting bar

Hi, I am looking how to create a bar that shows up when information is being sent and it requires the user to wait. An example of these bars show up when you order something online and click on the Place Order button and a bar colored in, shows up usually going back and forth (light to dark) letting you know it will be a minute to process your order so do not click on the back bar or hit your refresh button. If anyone knows what I am talking about and knows how this can be accomplished, please help. I hope I was clear on what I was looking for. Thank you.
