Website Software?

Hi I have a teacher resource website. I want to have a customizable chore chart for teachers. I need it to allow people who visit my site to create chore charts, and then print them.

It must allow them to alter the amount of chores, children, and have option for pictures. (I can make my own pic's)

Another website I have found offers this, but of course they won't respond to my emails asking where I can get such a thing

(they're site is (URL address blocked: See forum rules)
you can get an idea of what I am looking for)

Does anyone know where to find these? I have searched online for two full days. I don't know if I have been looking with the right search words either. What do you call programs that are made for online use? Man I am frusterated, any help would be much appreciated.

You can view my site at

Please Help before I give up altogether!!!,

Thank you,

Valerie

Oops sorry I didn't realize you couldn't post links

the website with the chore chart lets the person choose what kinds of pictures they put on it, what the titles of the chart say "Melissa's Chore Chart", and lets you pick the chores or type in your own, for example.....

I would just like generic pictures (like a broom for sweeping chore) as it will be made for children who can't really read yet. Thanks

Difficult to tell what it is without seeing a url.
Have to hazard a guess at some sort of Content Management System though.
You will need to have a host that has some dynamic capabilities
(supports PHP, ASP or similar and probably have database connectivity).

If your host supports PHP, then check out:
a) opensourceCMS and/or
b) CMS Matrix

These sites let you
a) try out CMS to see if they fit your needs without installing
b) compare available CMS

Hope that helps a bit...

?????????????????????????

the site that has the one I want is

DLTK custom chore chart, it should pull up with that search. shows a pic of sponge bob as an option to put on the chart.

I am hosted by yahoo, i don't know what PHP is, and when I went to your links I had no idea what to do? I am sorry I am so new to this, could you maybe look at the example and then let me know what you think? Thank you,

Valerie

The chore chart script you are looking for is pretty specific and niche in functionality, so I don't think you'll find any pre-built solutions you can download from the internet. Making one from scratch is quite easy (for a programmer), so that's most likely what the DLTK site did.

Which means if you want something similar, someone will have to program a script to do just that. The common direction people will point you in (but incorrect in your situation): they will tell you to use PHP or a server side language and get a host that supports that language.

You will need to have a programmer create one for you, but you don't need to bother with special hosting (Yahoo is fine) and you don't need anything more than a web browser to use the script. A programmer who specialises in the programming language Javascript will cater to your requirements best.

If you know someone personally who specialises in web development/web design, they may also happen to know Javascript -- JS is used commonly in webpages -- so ask around with programmers and web designers you know.

Alternatively, you can ask a mod to move this thread into the Project Help Wanted forum. Edit your first post stating the requirements a bit more clearly, move up the reference to DLTK custom chore chart, etc., and hope that someone will write the script for you. Perhaps a green developer learning Javascript. Don't hold your breath.
