Question What kind of computer setting do you have?

Hi,

I'm a professional webdesigner and in need of a new computer. So I was wondering what kind of settings you people have? What kind of processor, graphics card, memory, HD, monitor, extra's, connection, ... whatever. What would you change or what are you very pleased with? And please mention if you're a professional user or just a terrific amateur.

I'm almost embarrased to tell what I'm still working on, but somebody has to be the first:

- AMD Athlon 800Mhz (want more)
- 388 Mb RAM (want more)
- 33 Gb HD (want more)
- NVIDIA GeForce 2 (perhaps dual monitor?)
- EIZO 17" Monitor (want bigger)
- Windows XP Pro
- Cable internet connection

I'm fairly happy with what I've got.

I'm a professional. But I don't do most of the graphics, there is someone else doing that.

I keep buying a bit at the time and changing whatever part needs it the most.l The graphics card is up next.
This is what I have:

A NFS 2 ABIT MB (ver 2.0)
AMD Barton 2500 CPU
Saphire ATI 9000 AIW - 64 Mb
And 512 Mb RAM, PC 2788
An EIZO 21'' monitor. (I haven't tried dual. Perhaps I should, I still have my old 17'' somewhere).

I also have an ADSL 1 Mb line which makes up and downloading pages very fast indeed.

I think it works very well.

Aurora

1 g Ram
240 GB RAID 0 harddrive
19inch NEC MultiSync FP912SB
128 DDR ATI Raedon 9800
DVD +r/rw drive

have an additional 80gb external harddrive

Its nice being able to run Photoshop, Dreamweaver MX, and other progs all at the same time, versus my old machine where I had to close everything just to run photoshop

You're embarrases, hah I say

- AMD K6-2, 550 MHz
- 384 Mb RAM
- Riva TNT 2
- 40 GB HD
- 40 x CD (not a writing one)
- 15" monitor (can't remember the manufactorer)
- Windows 2000 Pro
- 512 ADSL (soon to be upgraded to 1 Mb)

And I'd say I'm semi-professional (still studying).

Try to guess how often my computer crashes when I'm using apache, mysql, photoshop + some other programs - all at the same time!

And to all of you who were horrified by my setup, well, I'm upgrading (== buying a new one) as soon as I have the money

- Kimppa
