What's Up with My T gifs ???

I am using IE 5.50 and when displaying transparent gifs the images look terrible - they appear darker. Usually it is a color that is close to the one selected to be transparent that is dark.

They will resume their normal appearance when hi-lighted or when they are scrolled off the screen and then back.

Is this the browser? Or the images?

I have already turned down my Graphics Acceleration.

I had to refresh the page once or twice for image distortion to appear.

When I go to that page, in Netscape 4.73, I am redirected to http://www.inglewoodcs.com/ics_style.css and a message: where (none) is linked to: http://www.inglewoodcs.com/(none)

What gives?

When I made the sample file I used an old .html file that had a CSS that doesn't exist on the server.

Why it resulted in the redirection.... I have no idea!?!

The image distortion is only evident in IE ... it seems to work fine in Netscape. I am wondering if it is the browser that causes this - or the image itself.

Interesting -- are these the same images that you are viewing (where the distortion appears)?

I've viewed them with Netscape 4.7 and IE 5.5 on Windows 2000 and do not notice the change at all. The distortion you speak of looks like the color table of the image is being changed. Double-check that you are displaying more than 256 colors on your machine.

I (seldom) use Netscape 4.7... but it works fine and IE 5.5 where it has troubles at times.

As long as I am the only one that has the problem I wont have to worry about my web content looking bad to others.

My display is 256+... (24 bit)

It must be a problem with Video Card, Win98, & IE 5.5.

I'll reload my driver and see what happens!

No problem. BTW, I wouldn't be surprised if it is indeed your video card driver. I have a 3dfx 3000 and when I was running Windows NT 4.0, could only get 1024x768 at 75 hz. Since I have installed Windows 2000, I can now get 1600x1200 at 85hz (with the same card and display). When I had NT, I never bothered to look on the 3dfx site to see if there was a later driver, though there probably was.

I see the distortion in the transparent images and its pretty clear to see. I have had this problem too but never could get it to work the way I wanted it to work .

I have reloaded my video driver (ATI) and everything works fine now.

Did you reinstall the same revision or was there a later one available that you installed?

I guess I may not have even installed the Video driver after my last HD format. It shows what the generic Win98 drivers are good for!

Do check their website, in case they have revised the driver. Many times a manufacturer will improve the drivers throughout the lifetime of the card.
