I like the design of the first one, but dont like the way the buttons are at the top. I like the side bar layout better, as shown on the 2nd. I think a bit of both.

which logo do you prefer?

would you want the boxes from the 2nd one the content boxes to be on the 1st one, or would that look weird?

I like the 1st one, but the buttons at the top are way to understated.

I think the navigation at the top is cool, but you need to do something to make them stand out more... bigger, bolder, something.

Overall, looks nice.

yes the animated banner, since the site look very static. and try some cool button, id don't know how you will come up w/ this. "Always remeber that when designing button or any banner. What's in the button or banner that would make me click it?"
