1and1 Support Forums

If you have an account from 1and1, then try these forums for support:

http://s88567960.onlinehome.us/forums/

If you do not have an account, 1and1 is offering 3 years free hosting in the US/Canada. Before you start saying "free hosting stinks" go check out their deal.

They are offering their professional package for three years as a promotional. The offer expires the around the 21st of Jan.

i dont want you guys thinking i am advertising for these guys...but just to enforce that statement, they have been doing enough of it themselves to need me.

that said, i know this is an older post bcz they dont offer free anymore () well that and the date, lol ) but i wanted to chime in here.

i have the free deal. i like it so much i bought a developer package. i am not as experienced as most here, but i do know a good company when i deal with it.

they are not the cheapest ( i paid 19.95 a month for 1 gig storage, 5 tld's, and 30 gig transfer ) but when i call ( only available for paid hosting ) they always answer. that is huge for me!!!

user cp is easy too. admin tools are comprehensive ( for me anyway )

if you pay for what you get, pay for this. no bargain deals, just solid hosting. and thats my 3 cents and 120 templates ( good ones ) free with dev package.

heh.

I host a v-bulletin forum using their free promo and have had absolutely no problems with them. They take care of any issues that arise.

So oswazi, Are you one of their clients?

The type of support you can expect from oneandone

I have been a customer of 1and1 for some 3 years here in the UK. In this time I have seen their support get steadily worse and worse mainly because they now outsource support for thier standard packages to India.

A typical email exchange with their support would go like this:

me: I have a problem with xyz
support: (3 days later) I see your problem is now resolved.
me: No it's not, please can you investigate
Support: Thank you for letting us know that all is now ok
me: Can't you read english, it's not working
etc etc

Basically their support for their standard packages is crap and I suggest you avoid them.

If you want incountry support from someone who knows what they are doing you need to take their professional packages and you'll get a toll free number (avoid email because it again goes to India) - for everyone's benefit (and because oneandone need to pull their fingers out) the toll free UK support number is 0800 783 5834. It works for all packages because they are too stupid to check when you call.

If anyone knows the number for USA/Canada please post it.
