Interesting... I got completely bawled out for innocently mentioning that I had a computer for sale. I was told quite clearly that advertising was forbidden here...

but yes. if you advertise free stuff, i donīt think this is a problem, but stuff like that can kill a forum quickly. just think of all these dumb "get XXX for free" guys. i hope you get my point.

It was decided sometime ago that advertising hosting in THIS forum was acceptable.

The difference, Tommy, is that you have an ad (extremely long at that) in your sig. That is NOT acceptable. I don't think anyone would have a problem for you to post your ad ONCE in the Lounge, but please remove it from your sig.

This is the same Sig I use on about 5 other Mac/PHP chat boards, and none of them have ever called attention to it. I tweaked it. Is it still too big?

It's not really an ad. It is simply a list of my computers. (I like listing my computers so folks know what environment I've got. That often helps get to solutions more quickly.)

Where do I go to read these stringent "rules"?

these rules are atop all other posts in most forums here called "newbies-read! how to post in this forum". i really donīt know if they tell about advertising (from my number of posts you can tell itīs a long time ago that i read them). but i think this is a matter of common sense. i just dislike spam like everybody else.

your sig looks much better like this (on our previous discussion i didnīt realize that this was a sig.). Since prices are a one-day thing in our business, why tell them? sorry, this really looked like advertising to me...

Sorry if the post was not abiding by the rules of this forum. I did look for the rules and did not see anything stating that intoductions are not allowed.

I assumed that you are allowed to introduce yourself and your company once and only once.

sorry for that. since there is no clear statement by the hostīs owners about advertising, i wonīt bother you again.

but this is no introduction ("we do this and that and have like 10 people working here on 4 macs and 6 PCs on Win9X and WinNT").

i consider it being advertising. and i was just worried about advertising wasting our bandwidth...

donīt care, just go ahead. i just revisited this thread coz i got email about a new post. i wonīt do it again.

If I new that posting such things were not welcome at this forum I wouldn't even post...

I'm sure 4dwebhosting has no bad intention like me.

I know how being bugged feels and I wouldn't want to bug anybody either, 4dwebhosting is probably thinking as the same as I do.

Also the mod always has the power to delete unwanted ads...so whats the worry?
