A little help here.

Hello everyone,

A few of my friends and I are planning on starting a web hosting business... And I would like to ask you what you guys would like in a web hosting business.... Such as space, It WILL have unlimited bandwidth on all accounts, special features.. I know Linux is the best platform to use, Which I will use as soon as I get my hands on a copy! And yeah... Just anything you would like in a webhosting business..

- Thank you.

Well, what would make you better than any of the gazillion other web hosts out there?
And by reading your post I take it as you don't have any vast experience with *nix. If so, I advice you to spend a few years with the OS so you get to know it before you put it in a hostile environment such as the Internet.
Do you have enough resources to carry through with this? Monetary as well as the time you'll have to spend on this? I wouldn't call this easy money as it takes a lot of effort to pull it off.

Not meaning to put you down or anything, but the reality is hard...

Yes, I do have experience with it... I just do not at the moment have a copy... I'm just asking a question... Looking for answers... Wondering what people want, Not what I tell them they want.

Having been in the biz for the past 2 years I can tell you it is a tough one. One thing that you will certainly need is php support and mysql support. And the real hard part comes when your server crashes at 2am (though with Linux I wouldn't worry too much assuming you set it up correctly

You should probably surf the web and find out what the top guns in the business are offering their customers - URL - and follow suit.

And the last post on this site had a good point, negative as it may have seemed. The web-hosting market is very saturated right now. That is why you are seeing so many cheap hosting companies fighting for market share.

Good luck.

Yes, I am aware that it's alot of work, Ever since I was about... 12 or so, I've wanted to offer webhosting... At the time I was using AngelFire.com and hardly even knew HTML... lol, I now know approx. 20-25 Scripting languages... And some C++... Always wanted to be a host, And I'm finally going to make it happen! (Childhood dreams! )

Thanks, About the Full CGI Support, Which is better: A cgi-bin? or +ExecCGI in the configuration so it can be run from anywhere on the server?

I'll also allow log access. I know some people like to have that.
