Hello,
I am looking for an administration software package for virtual hosting on Linux servers. It should provide individual users with their own control pannel to administer at least their e-mail. I would be interested to hear comments from people that have already used such software (commercial or open source) Thanks in advance for any suggestions. |

We have an excellent control panel for our users. However, its commercial and can not be licensed.
You can see a demo of it on my site @ http://www.mybizhosting.com ------------------ Adam Kling President MyBizHosting http://www.mybizhosting.com Everybody that signs up with us becomes a reseller. Get additional accounts at discount! |

Why would you respond with something that has no value to this guy? IF it does what is the company you purchased the software from?

HOw come this software costs $200 a month??
This is software that resides on your own server correct? |

External licensing is $200 per month (large quantities negotiable).
Yes, it resides on your server wherever located. You are not just buying the software, you are buying the entire service, including support, nightly upgrades, new features, future releases, etc. That price is reasonable considering you could host a few thousand websites on a machine with one license. The price is high for a host with only 25 sites...but that is not our target market. If you co-locate your server in our facility, the price drops down to $35 per machine. Cpanel™/WebHostManager™ is one of the leading software packages in the web hosting industry. It has been featured in Web Hosting Magazine, and is regarded as one of the top 3 packages on the market. I myself think that price is a bit high. In my case I was looking for software to do pretty much the same thing as CPanel/WebHostManager so I could easily admin my linux box. Considering I wasn't planning on webhosting, bust just easily configuring my box's setup, this is a huge cost to pay. In the end though, there are plenty of free linux admin solutions out there (like Webmin).

Too many people want something for nothing. If you don't want to pay then write it yourself.
If you can't or don't want to then pay someone else. Or just learn how to admin the linux box yourself, its not hard. |

True, but some stuff is just to expensive! >> Or just learn how to admin the linux box yourself, its not hard. I don't think webhosts, like me or Taki, are total Linux newbies (at least I hope so )I am looking for a free (or cheap, the ones mentioned here are to expensive), admin tool. I got webmin but this doesn't automate the daily tasks for the hosting business. I also want a control panel where my clients can setup their e-mail accounts etc. I don't seem to be the only one, so why can't somebody tell me the place to go??? Check this out
There is a virtual server daemon available at http://www.freevsd.org. This might be a bit more than you are looking for, but is an ideal solution for isp's / hosting providers. PHP / Web based administration scripts are available that would give users quite a number of features as well.

Thanks anyway, Bizzk |
