I have heard good things about them and they are hosting assured. Give them a try and let us know how it goes.

This is Kevin from P4host. I was doing you a favor to grant you access to your apache's log. Look, I was not supposed to do that even I said on our forum that we did not support it. While I was trying to solve the problem, your attitude was not right so that I stopped helping you. URL Btw, if you find a better host than us that can suit to your needs, I will have to say that you are very lucky. Kevin |

Look, I am not blaming you or P4Host. Your operation looks new and based on the way you handled my support tickets, I kind of got the same feeling. The bottom line is that I am used to hosts who provide access to the raw apache logs so that one can interpret those stats using any program they wish - in my case AWSTATS. You never even volunteered that access to the log files was not allowed. I had to dig that up on my own in your support forums long afetr we began discussing the matter. You could have stated that from the outset and then I would have never pushed for help in setting up AWSTATS, simple as that. Nonetheless, you are right in stating that I will have a hard time finding a better host, i.e. someone with as muich bandwidth and space for less than $10.00/month. In short, I do recommend P4HOST for anyone looking for a host with tons of space and bandwidth for pretty cheap. Just make sure they offer everything you are after or expect. |

Hmm, jps0...your statement is largely true regarding $10/mo for those kind of disk+BW features.
But Lunarpages.com and Hostrocket.com (also lately midphase.com) have played it pretty well and managed to carry it off very decently. As is seen from customers' experiences, its a pretty thin line...because Gisol, Globat, Powweb and iPowerweb have failed miserably in the same area. As far as Raw logs go, you're right P4host should have informed if you asked a direct question in pre-sales. Logfiles are rotated and managed by the CP's and I've worked with 2 CP's mainly - Plesk and DirectAdmin - both give access to raw logs to the user. But making a custom change to symlink the raw logs would run into issues eventually since logfiles get rotated. |
