For the amount of traffic you are suggesting ,I would start out out with a less exspensive VPS, basic control panel, etc. Once your traffic increases, then you could just upgrade it with more RAM,Bandwidth etc.Good luck!

.COM, .NET and .ORG are unrestricted open domains.

.com means that the domain is for business or commercial purposes.

.net means that the domain is for a technology based company.

.INFO is the internet's first unrestricted top level domain since .COM Around the globe, .INFO is synonymous with information. Anyone can register a .INFO.

.info means that the domain is for sharing information.

I have always used 1and1 for all of my websites and I have not had a single problem...however you do hear stories. I had a GoDaddy-hosted website and I ended cancelling the contract because my website kept on going down for days at a time. Saying that, I know lots of people with GoDaddy accounts and they all swear by them. Thanks MHK Developer, I also had no real idea of the difference either (or at least, intended difference).

I think best web host is one who provides with both Linux and Windows hosting plans. Linux hosting is based on PHP, Perl, CGI, and MySQL services. PHP and Perl are very efficient scripting languages used in most of the popular web applications out today. On the other hand any application written in ASP or Coldfusion is used for Windows hosting. There is a slight price difference in Linux and Windows web hosting, Linux is a little cheaper as it is an open source OS. Along with that a good web host should also offer round the clock technical support.

Thumbs up

Talking about Godaddy.com and Hostgator.com their service is good but protection system is not so good. Virus can attack your website if you have hosted with these companies.
I prefer http://up.biz. Its secure, fast and reliable.

Hi Folks,

I am using GoWEB.de for my website. I liked their services. My website is working fine in terms of speed and overall performance.

Hi,

To begin with Godaddy is a big player in the web-hosting field as is commonly known, also sites like inmotion, webhosting hub, etc are very popular choices people go for.

However, you would not be choosing just any web-hosting provider randomly. I myself wanted to host my website where i wanted a hassle-free and no bickering after sale kind of deal, which as pankaj user has said is a problem with Godaddy........

Some of the guys here have given some good names that are efficient web-hosting providers, eg. Goweb.de

Hope you get what you want.

Thanks

I hope this thread doesn't continue just to grow more and more "spammy"....is that a real word?..well, it should be!

There is obviously no 'Best Host' out there as each person has different factors that are important to them in regards to their hosting. Some are going to be satisfied with a small host with a more personal touch while others feel more secure with a larger company, like GoDaddy. Some people swear by them and others hate them with a blinding passion...and there's good reasons on both sides.

There's alot of choices out there, which is great for customers. But it can be confusing with so many to chose from. You need to do your research and check out posts and reviews on forums (but take them with a grain of salt as some are by the host themselves or bought and paid for). Narrow your list down and call the hosts that most interest you and ask questions. Ask about their network and what their actual uptime performance on their servers is. If their answers don't match what you are looking for, move on...there's alot of hosts out there in the open sea!

There's no best web hosting provider, you should find the host that fits the needs for your websites. List down your preferred providers according to your budget and Google reviews about them. you just need a service that works properly with your expectations.

Of all the web hosting and infrastructure providers, I've probably had the best experiences with Linode and Softlayer. Both are extremely solid companies.
