Changing domain names

currently we have the domain name halifaxacl.com registered with one provider, and the website associated to this domain name is set up with a separate provider.

we also have the domain name hacl.ca registered with yet another provider, and this domain name will redirect to halifaxacl.com when it is used in a web browser.

we want to reverse this set up, so that whenever someone types either address into a web browser they will end up at hacl.ca.

can anyone tell me what needs to be done to make this happen?

You have two options.

1) If you registar offers domain forwarding have them redirect those domains hcal.ca.

2) If you registar does not, add those other domains to Hcal.ca's account as addon domains. In their directory, create a file called .htaccess. The contents of the file will be.

Quote:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.hcal\.ca$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.hcal.ca/$1 [R=301,L]

You should redirect you one domain to hacl.ca. It will help you. But think about the links that the first domain has, won't it harm your PR?
