Colo or T1

Hi, we are currently using colos for our servers. (6 (db,web,etc..) at around $100/server, looking on adding more) We are considering moving those servers locally for more control and ease of administration. The servers handle not so many traffic on an average day but it can reach 5-12K/day at times.

Economically, a T1 is quite attractive considering that we are paying around 1k/month for colocation. However, we are not sure if a T1 can provide an efficient (reliable) connection for our servers. We also received a quote for a dual T1 (3mps) which is still lower than we're currently paying for our colo but still concern about reliability.

Can anyone provide an input regarding this? Any pros and cons on using a colo or leasing a line? Other than costs and expertise on managing the line and servers.

Thanks a bunch..

depends what you do with the servers... how much data do they typically transfer per month?

Im going to guess that your colo facility has much more than t1 lines... which allows your servers to tap into a larger bandwidth pipe. I'd be afraid that with that much traffic and that many servers that your sites would be sort of slow running through only a 3 mbit line. If you have files for download... it wouldnt take much to bog down the line.
