Detagged domains
Hi all,
A .co.uk domain I'm after has started to show the status of 'DETAGGED' when I do a whois on it after months and months of inactivity. What does this mean? Will this domain soon be available? Any tips on how I can get this domain I've been after for AGES? Thanks ![]() PS I hope this is in the right forum, also, I'm new here so hello ![]() |

Detagging is basically a state which the domain is put in for a finite amount of time (1 - 12 months usually) if the domain has not been paid for, or if the domain is no longer wanted by the owner.
If you are the original owner of the domain and wish to regain some form of control then you need to contact http://www.nic.uk to retag the name to a different ISP who can then issue you an invoice for the amount owed on the domain. |

i forgot to add that the domain _should_ be deallocated at the end of the detagged period, but thats speculation as ive never seen it happen

I don't know that they are ever dropped. It appears from my observations that if you want to pick up a detagged domain, your only real option is to go to the domain owner and make him an offer. -t |
