Thanx.... Correction for me though.... some down time..... but when they obtain some firewall equipment they should keep their hosting guarantee at 99.9995%

Hey people, go with someone who actually knows what he is doing. This guy seems to be a teenager who has managed to setup a server and has no idea about security.

Do yourself a favour and go with a professional company.

Well I am sorry to hear all of this flaming going on about a rather decent web host....I am a security advisor for the company i work for and this is a common problem among new services....it would only take a matter of minutes to correct so please dont bash people for being new...they are the next generation...

Gee its funny that xtremetemplates, bfoot045 and sdevaney all post in the same style, you would almost think they are the same person.

There is nothing wrong with someone being new, I just am sick of people being ripped off since the hosting company didn't know what they were doing and went out of business. There are too many people who think that running a hosting company is just about plugging in a server, installing Linux (or WinXP, augh) and then selling the space on it. They have no idea about what is needed to run a business or what is needed to secure their servers correctly.

I have seen a host which was allowing root connections to MySQL without a password. This MySQL database was used by all their clients and by the webhost for storing client details. The client details included complete credit card details.

There is nothing wrong with someone deciding to start a webhost as long as they know what they are doing and what they are getting themselves into. If they have not ran a server before they should not try and run a webhost.

It seems to me that xtremetemplates does not know what is needed to run a server and has no experience in running a server. Therefore I would be wary of using his service. If he has no experience running a server I cannot imagine how he would ever manage a 99.9995% uptime.

Also - I hear of people 'ping' or 'pinging' hosts to see if they are OK, whats this and how do I do it and what does it tell me - sorry, I have no clue ;-)

Though there are certainly a lot of kids tying to play ball most aren't making it. Some are at a rate of 50 cents an hour (why not just work at McDonalds for like $6 an hour).

sheesh... your flaming is so mean! (not to Gary or the other person... )

Look, uptime is good again. We are targeted to hosting smaller websites who need a low cost solution. We are not the expensive, 100% secure solution

We think we are going with kronix.net for security. Jason is certified and he seems very experienced. After that, you cant insult us for having no security!

WE PREVAIL

Websiteunited is now 99.9% secure to any DoS attacks, Kronix.NET provided our services to him on June 9th.
For proof of this procedure, ping websiteunited.com. You will get a time out.

http://www.kronix.net/index.php?location=secure

The websiteunited servers are still in the security procedure and shall be done shortly.

Also, it is not his fault that his server is DoS'd. He can't help fix any downtime that his server gets.

Well I was going to post that they were trying to make a compelte turn around and turn into a good developed host but you already did. I have been talking with them and once their previous mishaps are completely cleared things should be pretty good again.
