Doing a project in school for web-hosting...
I'm writing a paper on starting up a web hosting business for my business class. I'm trying to find the costs of starting up a business, however after long searching I haven't found any good sources.
Anyone able to help me out? Thanks. |

You could check www.itsallnet.com - they have a lot of articles on the web hosting industry.

Really. If you get a server then it will cost more since the cheapest servers I've seen run 89.99 per month. This is unmanaged. So, unless you know what you are doing, you will most likely spend a lot of time running the server.
On the other hand, if you get a reseller account, you don't need to worry about managing the server at all. You only need to worry about managing your sites. There are plenty of good resellers out there with packages starting at 15.00 per month. So.... it does not cost alot. :P |

Just remember, with low barriers to entry, you will face a lot of competition. Also its easy in and easy out, so your going to get low margins as well. So you have to compete on something other than price, such as service or webdesign, or providing items, such as forums, Blogs, or CMS systems preinstalled.
Damn, I knew this International Business degree would come back to haunt me...
